The best diet to gain muscle and lose fat requires a good breakfast. The first meal of the day should include one portion of lean protein. This could consist of from four to six scrambled egg whites or a serving of low fat dairy products like milk, yogurt, cheese, or cottage cheese. About four ounces of chicken or turkey is also an excellent choice. High protein soy products are also excellent especially weight loss diets for diabetics vegetarians and vegans. One portion of fruit of a complex carbohydrate should also be included. Fresh fruit, brown rice, oatmeal, and whole-grain cereals are a good choice. About one cup of any of these should be sufficient. You can also include as many non-starchy vegetables that you want, such as tomatoes, cucumbers, greens, and mushrooms.
When you are dieting it is vital that you balance the foods appropriately. Snacks and meals both need to have a healthy mix of carbohydrates and protein. If you consume more carbs than protein it is likely that you will feel hungry again shortly after.

The first thing that you need to do is to gain as much knowledge as you can about the disease and also about how your body is affected by it. You have to remember that your best defense against diabetes is knowledge.
Easy-Breezy Chicken Salad: Chill shredded chicken. Chop 1/4 small onion, 1 rib of celery and toss with 1/2 cup shredded chicken, 1 tablespoon light mayonnaise and season with salt and pepper to taste. Eat chicken salad at once or chill until serving. May be served with lettuce greens, if desired.
